UPDATES RELATED TO WMA CAMPGROUNDS AND CHECK STATIONS

To minimize exposure to COVID-19 and help protect visitors and employees, the FWC is closing all designated campgrounds on the Wildlife Management Area system for a minimum of 30 days beginning Monday, March 23 at 10 a.m. Also, permits for camping after Monday, March 23 will be canceled. On areas where it is currently allowed, dispersed wilderness camping (camping outside of designated campgrounds or where no permit is required) will continue to be allowed, but only for groups of less than 10 people. On all WMAs that operate check stations, the FWC is temporarily suspending regulations requiring hunters to check in at a check station upon entering, check out upon leaving the area and check all game harvested, except for Camp Blanding WMA and Econfina Creek - Fitzhugh Carter Tract. Currently, wildlife management areas (WMAs) remain open to the public and users are urged to engage in social distancing. Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend monitoring WMA open/closed status and that information is available below by region.

Fisheating Creek Outpost offers camping, paddling, fishing and hiking along one of the most pristine creeks in Florida. We're based near the small town of Palmdale, just west of Lake Okeechobee and north of the Everglades.

Hourly kayak and canoe rentals are available as well as the livery service at Paddling Adventures.

We're the perfect place to get up-close to nature. Paddling the cypress swamps or hiking our hardwood forests you can see alligators, turtles, deer, wild boar, turkey, wading birds, raptors, an occasional black bear and more.

Campers can choose from tree-shaded tent or RV campsites. Most RV sites have full hookups including 30 and 50 amp electric, water and sewer. Tent sites are primitive, some along the Creek and others near a small lake. All sites have easy access to bath houses.
